About gracola

Weaving Tradition into the Future.

At gracola, we are committed to crafting garments that carry forward the beauty of traditional Japanese textiles such as Aizu cotton and Enshu cotton. Woven with great care and time, these fabrics embody the spirit of the land, its people, and their way of life. Respecting this heritage, we strive to propose a new sense of timelessness that fits seamlessly into the modern lifestyle.
In an age where mass production and mass disposal have become the norm, we pause to ask: "What does it truly mean to create clothing that lasts? "With unwavering attention to materials, craftsmanship, and design, we aim to nurture a clothing culture that we can be proud of a hundred years from now.

Mission

Sustainable Clothing for a Better Future
gracola questions the cycle of mass production and mass disposal that has long dominated the apparel industry. We continuously ask ourselves: "What makes a garment truly enduring?" and "Is zero waste possible? "Without compromising on design, durability, or comfort, we produce only what is needed, with care and intention. We use natural materials that return to the earth, and actively incorporate traditional craftsmanship such as Aizu cotton and Enshu cotton, ensuring that both the garments and the cultural techniques behind them are passed down to future generations. For us, sustainability is not a fleeting trend, but a way of living expressed through everyday choices. We pour this philosophy into every piece we create, shaping the future of clothing one garment at a time.

Vision

Building a Clothing Culture We Can Proudly Share with the Future. At gracola, our goal is not merely to create clothing, but to craft a future where people, nature, and culture exist in harmony. Through the careful selection of natural materials, mindful craftsmanship, and sustainable consumption practices, we envision a world where clothing is no longer disposable, but something to grow with and treasure over time. We call this philosophy the "100-Year Garment." By creating garments that transcend generations and preserving Japan’s traditional craftsmanship, we foster a living cycle where communities and cultures continue to thrive. gracola is dedicated to building a new, sustainable clothing culture that is kind to the environment, to the makers, and to the wearers—and proudly sharing it with the world.

Values

Seasonless, Genderless, Timeless
We at gracola cherish the idea of clothing that allows everyone o be true to themselves, at any time. Unbound by fleeting fashion trends or seasonal cycles, we create garments with a seasonless, genderless, and timeless spirit. Rooted in the philosophy of the 100-Year Garment, we deliver enduring value for both today and tomorrow through the use of natural materials, traditional techniques, and mindful craftsmanship.

Materials and Craftsmanship

Aizu Cotton and Enshu Cotton
gracola’s garments are made using Aizu cotton and Enshu cotton, woven on rare shuttle looms that impart a soft, increasingly comfortable texture with each wear and wash. These fabrics are not just beautiful materials; they carry with them the warmth of the artisans' hands and the culture deeply rooted in the landscapes and lives of the regions where they are born. As shuttle looms become increasingly rare and artisans dwindle, gracola is committed to preserving these stories and skills by bringing the beauty of Aizu and Enshu cotton to new generations.

Biodegradable Buttons

We extend our commitment to nature down to the finest details.
Rather than relying on plastic buttons that contribute to pollution, gracola primarily uses buttons made from domestically sourced deer antlers—including antlers from local deer culled through wildlife management efforts. Though extremely hard and challenging to process, these antlers are carefully crafted into original buttons in collaboration with skilled artisans. Each button carries the beauty of time, connecting nature’s gifts with human craftsmanship.

Design and Pattern Making

100-Year Garments and Zero Waste
At gracola, we propose a new form of timelessness, offering designs that quietly accompany the rhythms of daily life, unaffected by transient trends. We also develop patterns based on workwear expertise, creating silhouettes that accommodate a wide range of body types, while prioritizing comfort, functionality, and durability. Inspired by eras when fabric was precious, we incorporate techniques that minimize fabric waste, paving the way toward a future of zero waste in fashion.

A Co-Creative Brand

Under the philosophy of the 100-Year Garment, gracola proposes a new way of clothing that harmonizes with nature and carries culture into the future. Beyond simply creating products, we aim to design a sustainable future together with businesses, individuals, and communities as a co-creative brand.

We look forward to walking into the future hand-in-hand with you.
